My name is Tyler
and I'm a big ol' GOOFY boy. They know that I'm most likely a
mixed-breed kid, but who really knows what my fine "lineage" is!
My rescue friends think that I may be mostly Leonberger, and
maybe part Saint (or even Mastiff) and a little Retriever thrown
in there... my head is quite large (don't you just love my
handsome black face?) My paws are very big and I do like to
bounce around a lot when I am excited... but then I settle down
and I'm pretty laid-back. I enjoy romping with other big dogs
but I might be too much for tiny ones (or cats) due to my size
and play style.
Because my overall size and temperament do match well with the
Leonberger breed, please do visit this excellent website at
Leonberger Club of America for more information on the "Leo"
breed, why you may or may not love one, etc.
I do have the double dewclaws that Saints have, and my head is
quite large (especially with my fluffy ears!) I have fluffy feet
and (when groomed well) I have feathering the backs of all of my
legs... sort of like fringe on a fancy leather jacket. My fluffy
paws are also very big and yet in MY mind, I am a lap dog! Make
room on your big couch for me; I'd love to curl up with you and
watch a movie!
My rescue friends believe that I was born around March 06, and I
was actually adopted from a small-town KS shelter when I was
just a pup, along with my brother "Tucker." (Please see his
online listing here too!) But
the family who adopted us dumped us both back at the shelter in
July 2007; can you even believe something so awful? The family
just didn't want us any more and they complained that we would
"roam away"... well, of course we would! There was no fence and
we
were outside alone a lot... so we were bored. We love people and
we just needed some companionship and affection!
Anyway, the friendly folks back at the shelter worked hard to
find us a safe place, and we wound up coming to Happy Dogs
Rescue, and we're doing great now. If your family has enough
room in your hearts and homes (and on the couch!!!) for a big
guy like me - AND/or my brother
Tucker - please send us an email. We'd love to meet you in
person at one of our adoption events. And if you would like to
complete an adoption application, please email us and we'll be
happy to send one right out!
TYLER ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Large or giant-breed dog experience
ideal; no children in the home under age 5. Fully fenced yard
required, no exceptions, in the Kansas City "metro" area only,
as we require a home visit / fence check by one of our
volunteers. We are a small, all-volunteer group based in KC, so
we're unable to successfully do long-distance or out-of-state
adoptions. Thank you for understanding! |
