"Sunday" is very new to our rescue, having joined us on Sunday
9/27/09. This sweet puppy was cruelly DUMPED on a gravel road near
one of our volunteer's homes. Found in the ditch by a neighbor,
Sunday was stumbling around looking for food. Something was clearly
wrong with his left front leg, as he would not bear full weight on it
and it seemed to be deformed.
We took Sunday in and immediately took him to see our vets. They
believe his leg is deformed from very poor nutrition and that he will
outgrow it, now that he's on high-quality food and receiving great
care. He was lucky that the leg was not broken, which was our
concern. We think that Sunday's date of birth was around July 20th
and he is definitely a hound mix... possibly Plott Hound and/or Coon
Hound. Though we can't know for sure his lineage, he's got the long
hound ears and a short black and brindle fur coat that many hounds
have. Oh, he also has the hound "voice"... as you can guess from his
photos.
Sunday is very friendly and will most likely be large to very large
when full grown. He is active and playful and enjoys being around
other dogs. He's never been around cats or kids in the past, that we
can tell. A typical puppy, he chews on everything and won't begin to
get adult teeth for several weeks.
Sunday is now neutered, current for puppy vaccinations, wormed and
started on monthly heartworm prevention. He will be microchipped
before going to his new home. His adoption fee is $150, which will
help us recover some of his vet and food expenses.
Please research the "hound" breeds before inquiring about Sunday. He
may do best in a home with another dog (or two) to buddy around with.
He will need a family who will spend the time and energy to work with
him, train him, to enjoy having a "demanding" (but loving) awesome,
intelligent, large and sometimes stubborn dog. You will be rewarded
with a fabulous and loyal best friend!
