Powder is a sweet and lovely 3 1/2 year old
spayed female Siberian Husky. She's a large girl, weighing
around 70 lbs, with the most beautiful blue eyes! She was left
by her previous owner in a small-town pound and was facing
euthanasia before we learned about her and took her into our
rescue. The wonderful volunteers at the pound worked hard to
share her story and we were able to help out!
Powder
is a typical Siberian and is an accomplished escape artist,
so she need a home with a 6' wooden privacy fence for safe
outdoor time if not on-leash. She can climb or jump anything
shorter, and she can also rip and pull chain link off the
frame... so a 6' tall, solid wood fence is what she needs, for
outdoor time. She is 99% housetrained and enjoys being inside
with her human friends.
Powder
does well with "some" other dogs but has issues with others. It
seems to be on a case-by-case basis and we're not sure why she
developed these (bad) habits. She would not likely be cat-safe
or safe with tiny dogs, as many Huskies are prey-driven and will
chase or "hunt" small animals.
Please
read and research about this wonderful breed before inquiring to
adopt, as Huskies are not for everyone. While they are indeed
gorgeous, happy and friendly, they do shed a great deal, they
love to dig giant holes in the yard, and they will absolutely
run away in a heartbeat if ever allowed to be outside "loose."
On the flip side, they are extremely social, outgoing and loving
dogs, who make a great furry addition to the right (prepared!)
family.
Powder
walks well on a leash and she loves to give her foster parents
lots of kisses and get her belly rubbed. She is looking for a
home with big-dog experience, and preferably one with "Siberian"
experience!
** Kansas City metro area adoptions only.
A 6' wooden privacy fence is required for this big girl!
