Eva is a purebred young GSD female, date of birth January '09. She is very high energy, very high "drive" and very active. She is wonderful with other dogs and friendly with all humans. Seems to ignore or be mildly interested in cats, but she has never lived IN a home with cats.
Eva came to us from a particularly awful situation. She was living outdoors in a crummy backyard, tethered on a chain. This poor dog was desperate for attention and exercise, and got neither. Anyone who knows the GSD breed knows that they are highly intelligent and that they need (and crave) a lot of human interaction and exercise. For her to live outside in isolation was just torture. (And in our opinion, animal cruelty!)
Fortunately she was rescued and joined our group. But because of her poor start in life, she developed the dangerous habit of jumping fences. Eva must have a home with a 6' tall fence, for her safe outdoor time when not on a leash. She can and will easily jump any fence shorter. She's now an indoor dog and is learning housetraining, but she is not at that point yet. (She is crate-trained though.) She has learned how to walk on a leash and quickly picked up "sit" on command. Eva is very food motivated and she is truly eager to learn.
Eva needs a home with GSD experience - or other high-drive, "working dog" experience. While she is a smaller Shepherd at around 50 lbs, she is a handful. A beautiful, energy-packed handful! She is very very active and she needs daily exercise and mental stimulation. She also needs a home with at least one other active, friendly dog for her to buddy around with and wrestle with, etc. She is very dog-friendly and seems to crave, need and enjoy that play time!
