Cleo is a sweet purebred Chihuahua. Cleo is one of many dozens of dogs that we took in from a Missouri puppy mill. Formerly living in a small wire cage (24/7), Cleo was used only for breeding. She had no happy family, no one to dote on her, hold her on a warm lap, nothing. She only knew that isolated life in a small, sad cage. But despite her past life, Cleo is extremely loving and social. She likes meeting people and really wants to be close to her new human friends
This very special girl deserves a really wonderful home!
No very young kids (under age 5) for Cleo, because of her puppy mill former life. We have to err on the side of caution... Cleo had never been around or lived with children, and she is simply not used to young kids and their sudden noises and impulsive movements.
Cleo came to us with no known prior vet care, but she is now spayed, fully vaccinated, HW tested (negative), on monthly HW prevention, wormed and microchipped. Our vets said that she is in excellent health! Her adoption fee is $250.
Chihuahuas are a small but mighty breed. Those who know and love the breed understand that they can be quite active, busy and vocal little dogs. (Some even call them yappy!) They typically have no fear of bigger dogs, but they may not always live harmoniously with large or giant breeds... it really depends on the larger dogs' "prey drive" and tolerance for tiny lap dogs. Chihuahuas can also be snippy at times, especially if handled roughly or in a hurry. (Small children are NOT generally ideal for Chihuahuas for this reason.) But Chihuahuas are also a real joy to have, for those who may have limited living space or who simply prefer a smaller dog that can easily enjoy a nap on someone's lap or even a traveling companion. Please read about this breed first to see if this tiny-but-action-packed breed is a good match for your family.
The ideal home for Cleo will have Chihuahua or other small-breed experience and will understand this breed. She is not yet housetrained but she seems to be a fast learner and a very smart girl! Cleo loves living indoors now, with her warm blankets and fun toys... OUT of the nasty winter weather! And she seems to enjoy the company of other dogs too. Cleo will be a wonderful and loving member of a lucky family!
